Last Updated: 21 Mar 2025 1:06pm
Rebecca Ferguson is a singer-songwriter from Liverpool.
Determined to make it as a singer from a young age, she initially failed in her attempts to audition for both The X Factor and P Diddy’s Starmaker. Eventually, however, she would get past Simon Cowell and his judging panel, making it all the way through The X Factor final, beating out One Direction to second place. She has gone on to release five studio records, with the most recent arriving in the shape of 2023's 'Heaven – Part 2'. Rebecca Ferguson will celebrate 15 years of music with a run of stripped-back, intimate UK shows in June and September 2025, following a one-off London show on April 12. Shy Star Sings Stunningly Strongly and Sublimely
Brighton Brighton Dome on March 19 2014
Rebecca is an amazing singer and a definite future Superstar like Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Nina Simone, and Barbra Streisand. I followed - and supported her all through X-Factor, and was very disappointed when she lost to Matt (invisible...) Cardle; although being independent from Cowell has been a blessing and a bonus for her career.
I also followed her tour in 2012; and have bought both of her albums on cd. Now, two years later, Rebecca has blossomed into a sophisticated, elegant and awesome artist. The first time I heard her sing on X Factor I was blown away. Her songs and her stunning voice, with such real feeling, true passion and genuine soul maintain that first impression. Without doubt, this lass deserves to be at the very top. You could see and feel that the whole audience were enthralled with her concert - although a cliché, the atmosphere was truly electric. From the wonderful songs off her two albums - Heaven and Freedom, to her showing of her amazing talent in singing covers of other artists' songs, in particular 'Another Love' by Tom Odell and 'Raspberry Beret' by Prince. Although I was never a huge fan of Prince, the way Rebecca re-arranged Raspberry Beret was amazing; and it gave me the willingness to re-evaluate Prince's music. You will not be surprised to know we gave Rebecca a much deserved standing ovation at the end. I really believe Rebecca could be one of the UK's future all-time greats. I'm hoping to see her in Coventry in July '14; and simply cannot wait for her next tour.
