The Tings Tings have confirmed they have completed work on their second album which will follow-up their debut 2008 album ‘We Started Nothing’.
The album is expected to be a change of direction for the duo who have been away recording tracks in German city Berlin last Christmas. Talking to BBC’s Newsbeat, singer Katie White revealed the new record was “"very different to the first one. It's still us and it's still pop. It's just huge."
Speaking about the pair’s recording sessions in Germany, White explained how the city played a major role in the Ting Ting’s song-writing. "It definitely has an impact on how you write. Even like the weather because it was so cold when we got there at Christmas. It was like minus 25C (-13F) and just snowed for a month-and-a-half."
The Ting Tings have decided to produce the as-yet-untitled new album themselves and the duo had this to say about opting to go it alone. “What makes us us is that we do it all ourselves. If you start bringing big producers in it'll totally change the way we are and what people like about us. We're complete control freaks -- I don't think we could work with anyone else. We'd have a heart attack if they changed one little beat."
After marking their return to the UK at this year’s Wireless festival, The Ting Tings are now making plans to set up a UK-wide tour. Check back to Stereoboard.com for details sometime soon!
