Former White Stripes and Raconteurs singer and guitarist Jack White has teamed up with the unlikeliest of collaborators – make-up’d hip-hop duo Insane Clown Posse.
With Jack free from his old bands, he has had the time to progressively release non-album singles, including collaborations with Wanda Jackson, The Black Belles and Stephen Colbert. But, for his latest single, he’s teamed up with a pair that’ll leave fans unsure what to think.
Insane Clown Posse are a pair of rappers who sport odd hairstyles, full clown make-up and the usual helping of bling that comes with hip-hop. They perform under an evil and mad kind of clown persona, and have been releasing music since 1989. They have a cult following, primarily in the US, with their fans calling themselves ‘juggalos’ and painting themselves to look like clowns. Yep, you’re probably thinking the same thing as me (and a million other people) – how the hell did this collab come around?
If that wasn’t strange enough, the single, due out on September 13th, is titled ‘Leck Mich Im Arse’, which yes, translates to ‘Link Me in the Arse’. Even stranger still, it turns out that ‘Leck Mich Im Arse’ is actually a tune written by one Wolfgang Mozart in 1782...
So, to re-cap, Jack White has collaborated with a pair of rapping clowns to remix Mozart’s ‘Leck Mich Im Arse’, and it’ll be released in less than two weeks. Go ahead, listen to the track below.
