Last week brought us the collaboration of Jack White and the Insane Clown Posse rap group to cover a Mozart track titled ‘Leck Mich Im Arse’. This week, we bring you a collaboration between Star Trek’s William Shatner and Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde for a cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man’. WTF.
I’m not sure whether there’s been an acid contamination in the spring which rockstars drink from, or whether crazy collaborations are ‘in’ at the moment, but it’s getting quite stupid. After Jack White’s random decision to work with two guys who dress like clowns to cover a song about anal fellatio, I thought I’d seen everything.
But no, it seems William Shatner wanted to take things to the next level as he covers the well-famous ‘Iron Man’, which has been re-released in recent times after the Ironman films hit our screens. If you were surprised when you read about Metallica and Lou Reed’s collaborative album, we can imagine you were knocked back by this one. It turns out that Shatner will be releasing a whole ALBUM of covers, including songs by David Bowie and Queen.
There have been a couple more crazy collabs in 2011, including Matt and Kim’s track with rapper Soulja Boy and party rock hero Andrew W.K, and GZA from Wu-Tang Clan’s track with psychedelic rockstar Nathan Williams, who played in Wavves.
