Peter Hook Looking To "Fuck Over" New Order

Ex-New Order and Joy Division legend Peter Hook has publicised his anger at former bandmates Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert after they announced they’d be returning to the scene for two fund-raising shows – with Hook saying he’d do what he could to ‘fuck New Order over’.

Sumner and Morris had been pining for a reunion of New Order, especially when Gilbert revealed that he’d like to get back together after a year out. But, after Hook was omitted from the line-up, he didn’t react well when he found out the other three had gone on to schedule two benefit shows for their friend Michael Shamberg, who is suffering from an illness.

Hook received some negative responses from Joy Division fans after he played live shows with The Light, and broke into a disgusted outburst at his old band mates when asked how the reaction affected him.

“It actually scared off a lot of the people I wanted to work with, which made me all the more determined,” admitted Hook. “It's the same thing with New Order deciding to tour without me. It makes me all the more determined to fuck New Order over in any possible way I can.

“If they think I'm just going to scuttle off to a cabin in the woods, they've got another thing coming. They're dickheads. People go and hide, but I don't. I'm a fighter. I'm going to come out fighting.”

Hook then suggested that the charity connotations that the two reunion gigs held were just front for the fact they wanted to play again.

“It's all bollocks. They're already hawking for an American tour; me mate told me yesterday. They're hiding behind the charity gig. It's going to be a hard thing for them to pull off, but they're doing it for financial reasons mainly.”
