The Rolling Stones Deny Any Involvement in Olympics 2012 Concerts

London-based rock legends The Rolling Stones have denied reports that they’re going to be performing at any kind of Olympic concert later this year, despite strong rumours of an anniversary concert as the band enters their 50th year together.

For the umpteenth time, rumours and reports of the Stones being lined-up or booked to play at an Olympic concert have surfaced – with a story in the London Evening Standard suggesting that the band were definitely to play at the potential gig.

But, a statement from a Rolling Stones spokesperson today quashed the rumours once again.

“Contrary to a totally inaccurate report in the London Evening Standard today, The Rolling Stones wish to point out that they are not performing at any concerts tied to the 2012 Olympic Games in Hyde Park or The Olympic Park.”

This comes after Stones drummer Charlie Watts speculated at the chance of a 50th anniversary show – confessing that he’s very much up for the idea.

“It would be lovely next year to do some shows because it will be 50 years. Ronnie Wood plays, I still play, Mick sings, he can do it anyway, I think Keith is doing some records.”
