Guitar genius Slash has claimed that digital downloads and piracy have contributed to music 'losing it magic', adding that although online purhchases are more convenient, it is sad to see physical formats die out.
Speaking to Absolute Radio, Slash reminisced of the days when he'd buy CDs and records, telling the station that there was a 'certain excitement' in checking out the artwork, the sleeve, the booklets and even the packaging whilst you listened to your new purchase - something which you don't get with digital downloads.
"There was a certain excitement that came with the release of a new record," he told the show. "And a lot of it was just the package itself, and it was something that you milled over while you were listening to the record.
"It was sad to see them sort of get phased out but, you know, with CDs at least you still had the booklets, but now, when you look at the digital situation, you're like 'There's nothing in it', you know? It's not even tangible any more. It's convenient, but you lose the magic of it."
Meanwhile, in other Slash news, the top-hat-wearing guitarist dashed any hopes of those wishing for the original line-up of Guns N' Roses to reunite at their April induction into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.
He told press: "Either it hasn't hit me yet or maybe it's been so long since I had anything to do with Guns N' Roses that I just don't really get it. And we're not playing. I would imagine that they asked us to play but I know that we're not playing."
Slash has confirmed he will showcase his new album 'Apocalyptic Love' at a special one-off show in the capital in June. Could a full UK tour be announced shortly? Check back to Stereoboard for further Slash news as it is announced. Slash 2012 UK Live Dates are as follows:
