Sources close to Simon Cowell’s ITV show Britain’s Got Talent have revealed that there won’t be a BGT tour this year – because producers believe that they won’t be able to shift tickets.
As we all know, we’re currently in a period of recession and the poor economic climate has now caused the show’s producers to already scrap plans of a finalists tour following this series of the show, as they believe that potential gig-goers won’t be able to afford the £35 required to buy a ticket.
Speaking to The Sun, the source said: “It costs £140 for a family of four without the booking fee, refreshments and travel. In the current climate, no-one can afford it. It doesn't help that the last couple of series have been a bit lacklustre. No-one wanted to risk empty seats again.”
The show itself, though, will continue as normal and Cowell is hoping to keep the same panel for the new series.
“The chemistry has worked really well - it's been one of the most fun panels I've ever worked with. [David Walliams is] the weirdest person I've ever worked with but we've become great friends. He's a brilliant judge.”
The current series of the show was won by Ashleigh and Pudsey - a girl with a dancing dog.
