Australian drum and bass superstars Pendulum have announced the split of their live band, 10 years after they began their epic career in dance music production.
The group, which consists of Rob Swire, Gareth McGrillen, Ben Mount, Peredur ap Gwynedd, Kevin Sawka, and Paul Harding, will no longer continue to make music or perform live sets, but will continue to DJ across the world well into the future. Swire made the announcement via Twitter earlier today, saying: “There will be no further Pendulum live shows. There are no current plans for a new album in 2013.”
Swire then went on to continue the announcement via an interview with Australian radio network Triple J, and told the station that his new Knife Party project alongside Pendulum mate Gareth McGrillen was seeing so much success that it has made Pendulum obsolete.
"The Knife Party thing is going so well we don't really feel like going back to junior school anytime soon. We're having too much fun with this project. It's also great because Pendulum towards the end sort of felt like we were doing it because we had to and that's never a fun way to do music. Whereas Knife Party is pretty much solely us doing what we want to and if no one likes it we don't care.”
Despite this, you'll still be able to catch sets from Pendulum's DJ Paul Harding, whilst a new album hasn't been ruled out in the years after 2013. Stay with Stereoboard for more on this story.
