English singer-songwriter-musician Paul Carrack has announced that he’ll release new solo album ‘Good Feeling’ on September 24th.
The self-produced new LP, on his own Carrack UK label, will delight his legions of fans with its typically classy blue-eyed soul sound. Paul’s remarkable career, which spans four decades of work with countless musical giants, will be celebrated in a new career documentary, to be screened by BBC4 around the time of the album’s release.
Highlights include ‘Marmalade Moon,’ written with Squeeze’s Chris Difford; ‘I Can Hear Ray,’ penned with Charlie Dore and namechecking the great Ray Charles; a new version of Nick Lowe’s ‘From Now On,’ first recorded on Paul’s ‘Suburban Voodoo’ album 30 years ago; Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Lucky Town’ track ‘If I Should Fall Behind,’ performed by Carrack on a BBC Radio 2 special about the Titanic; and the title track, already his latest airplay hit.
‘Good Feeling’ follows 2010’s ‘A Different Hat,’ Paul’s gorgeous collection of vocal performances accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He not only produced the new album himself but plays most of the instruments on it. His son Jack, now a member of his band, joins him on drums.
“The orchestral album was very mellow and downbeat,” says Carrack. “So coming back to my normal way of doing things, I wanted this album to be upbeat, and it felt that, and very fresh.”
