Are you a fan of Green Day? Attending the Reading Festival next weekend? Well take a deep breath, it 'appears' as though the US punk-rockers WILL be hitting our shores next week performing a secret concert at some point during the festival along with a mysterious London show, according to online speculation.
Green Day chat rooms and forums have been buzzing with excitement about the prospect of a surprise Green Day appearance at the Reading Festival next Friday. Now, following months of rumours, a picture has emerged online backing-up these rumours that the band will indeed perform in Reading and London as part of their 2012 world tour, in support of their new trilogy album.
The picture, as you can see, is of a Green Day 2012 tour t-shirt listing the 11 cities featured on their current world trek; Tokyo, Osaka (Japan), London, Reading (UK), Paris (France), Mönchengladbach, Berlin, Konstanz (Germany), Bologna, Rome (Italy) and Las Vegas (USA).
Green Day are rumoured to be announcing their UK dates very soon, the Reading date probably indicates that the band could be making a special guest appearance at next weekend's iconic rock festival.
So what do we think? Is it genuine? We've taken a close look and we cant see any reason to believe the image could be a fake, with fans from Japan saying it's an official shirt on sale at the venues. All other dates featured on the T-Shirt, apart from the UK stops, have been confirmed by the band.
Could we see a Green Day UK tour announcement soon? Perhaps during the build-up to both the Reading and Leeds Festivals? One thing is for sure, this new image means a lot of questions need answering. Check back to Stereoboard for further details, we'll let you know as soon as we have the answers!
In other news, in advance of the release of their new '¡Uno!', '¡Dos!', and '¡Tré!' album trilogy, Green Day will look back on their career with the release of the eight-CD boxed set 'The Studio Albums 1990-2009' on August 27th. The collection treads the band’s meteoric journey from their 1990 debut, '1,039/ Smoothed Out Slappy Hours', through 'Kerplunk' (1992), 'Dookie' (1994), 'Insomniac' (1995), 'Nimrod' (1997), 'Warning' (2000) and 'American Idiot' (2004) to 2009’s '21st Century Breakdown'.
