LA-based rockers Y Luv have offered brand new track ‘Driftin’ as a free download, ahead of the release of their brand new EP ‘It Doesn’t Have to Make Sense’ - out October 1st.
Y Luv are fast becoming one of the most exciting new bands around. With the release of the brand new EP ‘It Doesn’t Have to Make Sense’ just around the corner, the SoCal quintet are giving you a sneak peek of what to expect by offering a stream/download of new track EP track ‘Driftin’.
Having amassed a large fan base and become Hype Machine sensations on the back of songs like ‘All Night’ and the anthemic ‘Keep It Rollin’, this band of USC graduates promise to wow with the upcoming 4-track EP, showcasing a sound that remains true to previous releases while introducing an evident maturity to their indie rock stylings.
‘Driftin’ shows a vulnerable side to Y Luv . The distinctive vocal of Freddy Janney is offset by the lonely sound of a piano before the familiar rumbling arrangement that we attach to this fast rising band kicks. Featuring a chorus that encourages you to get lost and sing along, ‘Driftin’ is one of those rare songs that manages to be both uplifting and introspective. Front man Freddy Janny states:
“‘Driftin’ is a total collaboration by all five of us. It started with Evan's piano part and we just jammed and layered it from there. It's about feeling like you’re losing your mind. We love playing it live.”
