American superstar Justin Timberlake has revealed an unlikely list of names and bands that have inspired his latest album ‘The 20/20 Experience’ - and it includes names like Bob Dylan and Led Zeppelin.
Timberlake recently announced his long-awaited return to music, unveiling new single ‘Suit & Tie’ and his forthcoming third album. Now, after showcasing brand new, eight minute track ‘Mirrors’, he spoke to Capital FM about his decision to create such a lengthy track, and who inspired his latest album offering!
“When we were making the record I said, 'If Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin can do 10-minute songs and Queen can do 10-minute songs then why can't we?',” Justin told the station. “We'll figure out the radio edits later.”
He continued: “You should be able to create another world that you can live in. I'm not gonna speak for Bob Dylan - he's one of my idols - but from my perspective, as a fan, it seems to me that he started creating music that made him feel like another person and that's what it should do. [The studio] really is one place that you can still go to that you can be completely free. You can lock yourself in a room and make a whole other world.”
Timberlake is set to perform some of his new music - as well as some crowd favourites - when he headlines Wireless Festival later this year, his only UK festival appearance of 2013. He’s also lined-up a US tour alongside ‘Suit & Tie’ star Jay-Z - stay with Stereoboard to find out if they decide to tour the UK too.
