A Michael Jackson double was used to promote the late superstar’s final world tour, according to reports in the Daily Star this morning.
The Jackson family made the claims while fighting a case against concert promoters AEG Live, which sees them looking for £26billion in compensation and damages from the company. AEG were behind Michael’s comeback tour, which he was rehearsing for at the time of his death, and the family have told courts that they believe the company ‘mishandled’ the singer.
It’s become a very hard fought case, and has seen a lot of things brought to light - now, it's emerged that a Michael Jackson lookalike may have been hired to help promote the tour, as the real Michael wasn’t fit enough to appear publicly.
The claim states that a double was used to announce gigs at the London O2 Arena alongside TV host Dermot O’Leary in 2009, as well as for clips in a movie which appear to show Michael Jackson rehearsing.
Bianca Cobb, a body language expert, has been analysing footage of the star, and reportedly said:
“In my opinion, the man in the clips isn’t Michael Jackson. The walk is cockier and had more bounce than MJ’s typical stride. He tended to walk with his head down.”
A source close to the family has also commented, saying:
“Paris and Prince and their gran believe a fake Michael was involved. They have hired detectives to track him down.”
The case could go on for a long time, and may result in a huge payout for the Jacksons, who believe they have lost out on huge amounts of money following the cancellation of 50 comeback concerts at London's O2 Arena prior to his death.
The concerts are believed to have played a big role in his death, as he was injected with propofol - which eventually led to his death - to help him sleep after growing tired from extensive rehearsing for the gigs. Dr Conrad Murray - who injected the dose of Propofol - is currently in prison.
