Shabazz Palaces are an alternative hip-hop outfit from Seattle, Washington.
Formed in 2009, the duo consists of MC Ishmael Butler—aka Palaceer Lazaro, Butterfly, a former member of jazz-hop group Digable Planets—and musician/multi-instrumentalist Tendai ‘Baba’ Maraire. They released their debut album 'Black Up' in 2011, followed by a further three full-length records including, most recently, 'The Don Of Diamond Dreams' in 2020.
