Akala, real name Kingslee James Daley, is an English rapper and poet from Kentish Town, London.
Starting his music career in 2004, he released his debut album, ‘It's Not a Rumour’, in 2006, which led to him winning the MOBO Award for Best Hip Hop Act. He followed with ‘Freedom Lasso’ in 2007, ‘DoubleThink’ in 2010, and ‘The Thieves Banquet’ in 2013. His latest release was 2015’s ‘Knowledge Is Power II’. He returned in 2017 with the EP ‘Visions’. He has headlined his own shows and tours and has played V, Wireless, Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, Parklife, Secret Garden Party and Isle of Wight and well as having supported the likes of Christina Aguilera, MIA, Richard Ashcroft, Audiobullys, DJ Shadow, and Scratch Perverts.
