Billy Corgan is a musician and songwriter from Chicago, best known as being the primary songwriter, guitarist and sole permanent member of The Smashing Pumpkins.

With the Pumpkins, Corgan put out their debut album 'Gish' in 1991, followed by 'Siamese Dream' in 1993, 'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness' in 1995, and three more before their break-up in 2000. Corgan then started a short-lived project Zwan, and dropped his debut solo album, 'TheFutureEmbrace', in 2005. He also published a book of poetry, Blinking With Fists, in the early '00s before setting his sights on reforming The Smashing Pumpkins.

Alongside his studio record, Corgan has also worked on various film soundtracks. In 2017, he released his first solo album in over a decade, 'Ogilala', followed by his third solo full-length, 'Cotillions', in 2019.

Billy Corgan will celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Smashing Pumpkins' album, 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness', with the Lyric Opera Of Chicago hosting seven orchestral performances in November 2025. Before that, he'll tour North America that June with a new solo project titled Billy Corgan and The Machines of God, celebrating 'Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness', and the 25th anniversary of 'Machina/The Machines of God'.
