Childish Gambino—real name Donald Glover—is a rapper, singer-songwriter, producer, writer and actor from Edwards, California.
His big break came in 2006, when he was hired by Tina Fey for a writing job on her show 30 Rock, eventually stepping in front of the screen for his beloved role as Troy Barnes in the sitcom Community, which he played between 2009 and 2014. Having already released a handful of singles and mixtapes, after appearing in the show his music career also began to gain traction, dropping his debut studio album 'Camp' in 2011. Simultaneously juggling music and acting from then on, he went on to appear in movies and series such as the Spider-Man and Star Wars films, Mr & Mrs Smith, The Lion King and, notably, Atlanta, which he created and starred in. The latter earned him a host of honours, including two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globes. He has also released a further four LPs over the years—picking up five Grammys along the way—with the latest being 2024's 'Bando Stone & The New World'. Childish Gambino has cancelled all remaining UK, European, Australian and North American shows planned for 2024/25, while he recovers from surgery.
