Libertine and former Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat will embark on his first solo tour this Autumn, which will coincide with the release of his debut solo album and book release.
The album has been written over the last 12 months and fans have been told to "expect the unexpected" by Barat and he hopes the book of memoirs will "tickle your curiosity". Barat will be out on the road with a 5 piece band and promises both old and news songs on these dates.
This has been a busy year for Barat, starting in January with his first theatre acting role with a run at Riverside Studios in 'Fool For Love', the Sam Shepard play alongside Sadie Frost. He has also made a film with friend Mark Donne ('Rime of the Modern Mariner') about the history and culture of the London Docklands which was premiered at the East End Film Festival in April and will be shown at Latitude this month introduced by Barat. He most recently travelled to LA to play a special gig at the premiere of Russell Brand's new film 'Get Him To The Greek' which he contributed two songs to the soundtrack.
The album has been recorded in London and is being mixed in New York, more details of which to follow soon.
He also has of course the small matter of two live performances as special guests at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August with his old band The Libertines which is one of the most highly anticipated events, and will no doubt be one of the highlights, of the summer.
