UK's Foremost Brit-Ska Band: The Communicators At Boomtown Fair 2010

Next weekend will mark the fourth year of the UK’s Boomtown Fair, a unique festival that offers up the best ska and party bands across the world, including live gigs from an array of gypsy, folk, reggae, dub and country and western acts.

Taking place from Friday 13th August through to Sunday 15th August, at a mysterious location in the grounds of an estate in Buckinghamshire, Boomtown Festival prides itself on the mass of different acts that are lined-up for the party. In addition to the wide range of music on offer, cabaret, comedy and spoken word performances will also feature over the many stages, with festival-goers having the option to visit a number of curiously themed zones including an interestingly named ‘anarchist theatre’ too.

Boomtown Fair boasts all the usual facilities you can expect at a festival, with this year’s event organisers concentrating more on the development of a kids/family campsite, circus performances and the display of site art. The festival also promotes many eco-friendly initiatives to its visitors, so you can revel in the party atmosphere safe in the knowledge that you’re helping to save the planet too.

Featuring at this year’s event are legendary Jamaican ska and reggae group Toots and the Maytals, as well as 2 Tone ska revival band The Beat. Other acts on the bill include Ska n Ska, Neville Staples (The Specials), The Wurzels, The Dub Pistols, Pronghorn, Pama International, Demented are Go!, SubHumans, The Caravans, Long Tall Texans, Slim Slip & the Sliders, Tragic Roundabout, The Don Bradmans, Rudi La Crioux & The All Stars, The Zen Hussies, Sick Note, Mojo Kings, Who’s Afear’d and many more.

With hundreds of acts on the bill for the weekend, one band to especially look out for are The Communicators. Now recognised as the UK’s foremost brit-ska band, The Communicators started their journey back in 2005 performing covers of bands such as The Specials and Madness.

Having played an after-show party for The Specials during their 2009 reunion tour, The Communicators have grown musically into a band that now regularly plays to sell-out crowds across the country. Following support slots for bands such as The Raptures, The Wurzels, Skanktank and Shoot the Moon, The Communicators have since launched their first album of original material ‘Care in the Communicators’ before unleashing a live album ‘Songs from the Big Foot’ as well as their first DVD ‘Off the Rails’.

Through a blend of thumping drums, bass, percussion, keyboards and red hot guitar - not to mention a brass section Bad Manners would be proud of - The Communicators are promising to take you to an all new level of skanking. Be sure to catch them at this year’s festival!

Other entertainment for the Boomtown weekend includes a huge range of DJ sets to take you into the night as well as shows and parades. Festival-goers should also be weary of the zombie marches! Rumoured to be parading around the bizarre ‘Downtown’ zone of the festival, the hordes will be lead by King Pakka upon his mechanical flaming horse and will not take kindly to mere mortals who dare to cross their path!

Boomtown Fair 2010 takes place from Friday August 13th to Sunday August 15th and more information on the event can be found by visiting the official website http://www.boomtownfair.co.uk
