Having sold out their October tour dates, Liverpudlian indie-pop rockers The Wombats have announced a full UK and Ireland tour for January 2011.
With the anticipation continuing to build, the return of the Wombats continues to be one of the most talked about subjects amongst the indie crowd. The band’s upcoming new single, ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’, was given its first airing on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show recently and seems to have made an impression amongst fans with the announcement that The Wombats’ October dates have already sold out.
Fans unable to get their hands on tickets for the quirky trio’s October shows shouldn’t panic though. Latest news from The Wombats camp is that the band have now announced a full-scale UK and Ireland tour for January 2011, taking in a total of 13 dates which includes a huge gig at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo.
The Wombats have set the release of their new single ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves’ for September 27th and will now return to Los Angeles to finish work on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2007 debut album ‘The Wombats Proudly Present… A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation’.
Rumour has it that the infectious punky guitar hooks that were sprawled through their debut offering have returned, however for the second album the band have been experimenting with more obscure ideas and some darker lyrics. The Wombats are looking to release the new album towards the end of the year.
The Wombats will play the following UK shows:
January 2011
12th Spring & Airbrake, Belfast
13th The Academy, Dublin
15th HMV Picture House, Edinburgh
16th Fat Sams Live, Dundee
