Squeeze to release new single ‘Loving You Tonight’

Wednesday, 08 September 2010 Written by Rob Sleigh

Squeeze are to release new single ‘Loving You Tonight’ on 11th October. The track is actually a re-recorded version of a song the band originally released in 1993 and is the first single to be taken from last month’s compilation album ‘Spot the Difference’.

‘Spot the Difference’ is a collection of 14 classic Squeeze tracks, including their 1979 hits ‘Up the Junction’ and ‘Cool for Cats’. However, unlike most “best of” albums, the songs have been newly recorded by the band.

‘Loving You Tonight’ features lead vocals from frontman Glenn Tilbrook, replacing Squeeze’s former keyboard player Paul Carrack, who originally sung on the track. However, Carrack returned to reprise his role as lead vocalist on the song ‘Tempted’ especially for the album.

A deluxe edition of ‘Spot the Difference’ will also be released on 11th October, the same date as the single. This will include a live recording of the band’s performance at the Fillmore in San Francisco last month. These releases come ahead of Squeeze’s upcoming UK tour in November and December.
