Guitar legend Eric Clapton is to perform a string of UK and Ireland dates next year, with the singer-songwriter taking to the stage in May 2011.
Preparing the release new material this autumn, the singer-songwriter's new album 'Clapton' will be his 19th studio collection due for release on October 19th. Described as an album that touches on everything from century-old traditional brass bands, little-known country blues and brand-new originals, the result is both relaxed and revelatory and unlike anything the guitarist has done in his career. It features an all-star cast of guests including Steve Winwood, Wynton Marsalis, Allen Toussaint, and Derek Trucks.
Eric Clapton has now announced that he will tour the UK & Ireland in May 2011, showcasing his new material at some no doubt fantastic shows across the UK and Ireland. Getting the tour underway in Dublin on May 9th Clapton will then play Belfast, Glasgow and Cardiff before a four-night residency at the historic Royal Albert Hall in London.
In preparation for the tour Clapton has assembled an impressive backing band which includes long-time touring partners Steve Gadd on drums, Willie Weeks on bass, Chris Stainton on keyboards, and backing vocalists Michelle John and Sharon White.
Eric Clapton will play the following UK & Ireland dates:
May 2011
9th O2, Dublin
10th Odyssey, Belfast
12th SECC, Glasgow
