Tennessee-based rockers Kings Of Leon look certain to reach the Number One spot in the UK albums chart this week, after phenomenal first-day sales of their new album ‘Come Around Sundown’.
The band managed to sell over 75,000 copies of their album on the first day of release, according to midweek sales statistics from the Official Charts Company. Come Around Sundown is the fifth studio release from Kings Of Leon, and was released this Monday (October 18th) in the United Kingdom.
Robbie William’s greatest hits collection ‘In And Out Of Consciousness’ entered the chart at the top position last weekend, however if early predictions are to be trusted, it will be a short-lived celebration for the Take That popstar. Kings Of Leon’s strong early sales means that the album is likely to secure one of the biggest sales weeks of the year so far. This year's record is currently held by Eminem’s Recovery, which sold almost 140,000 copies in one week earlier this summer.
Other albums hoping to contend this week include Lil’ Wayne’s ‘I Am Not A Human Being’, and the soundtrack to this month’s smash-hit film, ‘The Social Network’
The Beatles’ remastered collections '1967-1970 (The Blue Album)' and '1962-1966 (The Red Album)', have also been released this week. Both are expected to debut within the top ten.
In terms of singles, new releases from The Answer, Train and pop fledglings The Wanted will all compete against last weeks favourite Cee Lo Green, who topped the chart with his cleaned-up commercial release ‘Forget You’.
