Devon-based electronic indie-rockers Metronomy have announced several UK tour dates for January 2011. The gigs will take place during the run-up to the release of the band’s third LP. The album, which is due out in March, is tentatively-titled ‘The English Riviera’ in an apparent reference to their hometown of Totnes.
Metronomy’s main man Joe Mount, who has also produced and remixed music by artists such as Roots Manuva, Kate Nash, The Klaxons and Franz Ferdinand, has been working on the album in a studio in Paris.
Mount originally founded Metronomy as a solo-project in 1999 and went on to release debut album ‘Pip Paine (Pay the £5000 You Owe)’ in 2006. Mount has since been joined by Oscar Cash and Gabriel Stebbing in Metronomy. Stebbing left the group last year and was replaced by Gbenga Adelekan, as well as former Lightspeed Champion drummer Anna Prior. The new album is the follow-up to 2008’s ‘Nights Out’.
The January tour dates are likely to feature some of the material from the album. The tour stops at the following venues:
Wed 19-Jan - Manchester, Deaf Institute
Thu 20-Jan - Glasgow, King Tuts
Fri 21-Jan - Leeds, Cockpit (room 2)
Sat 22-Jan - Liverpool, Academy 2
Sun 23-Jan - Birmingham, Hare and Hounds
Wed 26-Jan - Southampton, Joiners
