American rockers Foo Fighters have announced today that they will be playing a headline gig at Wembley Arena in February. The band will play their first arena show in 2011 at the NME Awards big gig on February 25th.
The news comes just a week after frontman Dave Grohl was announced as this year’s ‘Godlike Genius’ winner at the upcoming NME awards. At the arena show Foo Fighters are expected to unveil new material from their upcoming seventh studio album, which they have recently finished recording with former Nirvana producer Butch Vig.
The show is a special gig aimed as a celebration of 2011’s finest acts, taking place just two days after the NME Awards ceremony. Support will come from ‘F**k You’ singer Cee Lo Green, Band of Horses and No age.
Tickets for the gig will go on sale at 9am (GMT) this Wednesday (January 19th). As always, Stereoboard will have all the news on prices and availability as soon as it happens.
Meanwhile, the band have been whetting appetites by unveiling a 30-second teaser for their upcoming album. The band posted a link on Twitter along with a message stating: “Hi. Here's a hint. Turn it up.” You can listen to the sample at http://tease.foofighters.com/.
