‘Hospitality Drum and Bass 2011’ is the newest and freshest mix album to come out of the Hospital Record steam engine, and it packs as much as punch, pace and pulse as any of the heavyweight CDs they’ve put out in the past!
Superbly mixed, the compilation contains a rip-roaring amount of dance floor smashers, ridiculous remixes and mind-blowing amen break infused mayhem as a standard. With Hospital regulars such as Danny Byrd, Netsky and big new comers B-Complex combining with much loved producers you don’t oft-see on a Hospital Release, like Original Sin, Taxman, Die and Phace – how could this monumental mix not be an instant favourite with drum and bass addicts worldwide?
Kicking off Hospital’s start to 2011 with bouncy feel-good track ‘Tonight’, by giants Danny Byrd and Netsky, the album gets straight into business, and coolly moves on to a one of my favourite tracks on the CD, ‘Ass’, by Receptor. The funky yet dirty bass line gets me moving in my seat every time it fades in. It also strangely works incredibly well with Danny Byrd’s immensely popular chart-stormer ‘Ill Behaviour’, which managed to reach 7th in the UK Dance chart and his highest position in the regular UK charts, coming in at 36th.
What I like most about the release is the variety you get – all 170bpm tastiness, but with loads of different styles of drum and bass. The regular liquid overdose is sedated by the thumping jump-up and infused with the dark neurofunk that Original Sin, Taxman and Phace provide. There truly is something for even the pickiest drum and bass purists.
Apex’s epic remix of London Elektricity’s ‘Just One Second’ gets a well deserved VIP, sending the simply beautiful track to new plains – although maybe not as soft as the original, it deserves the same appreciation. This particular tune is one of four plucked from the 28-track bonanza to be released on the 2xLP vinyl version, pressed along with Blokhe4d, Sigma + Logistics and Fred V ready to be rinsed out on turntables through-out the UK.
The brains at the helm of Hospital have got the track list perfected to a tee, and the tip-top mixing engineers this CD into a great disk to plonk on at a party, to put on your iPod, or even to just chill-out to in the house – this collection of the newest hottest releases will work wonders wherever you play it.
You can expect to see this explosive new CD in shops and in the Hospital store from the 31st of January, and is fantastic way to the start a new year – with a fresh helping of drum and bass and a sweet view of what’s to come in 2011.
You can pre-order 'Hospitality D+B 2011' from iTunes for just £4.49 here.
