It’s been just over a year since South London’s Warhol upstarts The Palpitations sneaked out their debut single ‘Tears In The Rain’. With an enforced hiatus since then, the band are now back with their follow up single ‘Milk It’; the wait is officially over.
Formed in late 2008 The Palpitations convey an edge more developed than their peers. Lyrics that are confessional, awkward and bittersweet are underpinned by musical lullabies that veer from darkly melodic to epically euphoric. The Palpitations manage to do what Sonic Youth do; melding catchy melodies to an experimental sound, whilst building a song and making your heart beat faster (and faster). They is no subtly within their music; they want your heart to skip a beat!
Having already had features on Channel 4, E4 and Radio 2, championed by DJs Andy Weatherall on BBC6 and Chris Martin formerly of NME Radio, Fred Perry’s subculture website and Who’s Jack Magazine, and shared stages with the likes of British Sea Power, Ramona, Doll & The Kicks and The Brute Chorus as well as label mates Islington Boys’ Club and Arrows of Love. The Palpitations are definitely a band on the rise.
‘Milk It’ backed with ‘Love Is True (That’s Why It Hurts)’ will be available on a Limited Edition 7” and Digital Download via CLUB.THE.MAMMOTH.
