Taylor Swift has recently spoken about her surprise and joy at being successful in non-English speaking regions of the world. The young singer has just completed the Asian section of her world tour, and stated that her recent success in the region is proof that country music can be accessible to people all over the globe.
Speaking to the Associated Press yesterday, she said: "I love country music, and I love the fact that it's being accepted all over the world. That is so exciting for me."
She continued to assert her surprise at the fact that Asian fans have felt a resonance with her music, known for primarily for its personal and heartfelt lyrics. She said: "The international success has been the most beautiful and pleasant surprise. Being welcomed by countries that speak a different language from the language I speak is an honour. It really touches me every time I look down and I see all the fans singing the words to my songs, having written the lyrics, knowing that they connect in countries where English really isn't spoken by everyone. It means the world to me."
Swift is currently touring her hugely successful third LP ‘Speak Now’, an album which topped the charts in dozens of countries and earned the coveted Christmas Number One spot in the US.
