American R&B singer Ne-Yo has spoken out about his recent comments on Beyoncé, stating that he in no way intended to ‘diss’ her.
Ne-Yo recently spoke to press, revealing that he had written ‘Irreplaceable’, a song which Beyoncé has now turned into a hit, as a track for himself to sing and that he regretted giving it away.
The star said "One song that I gave away and didn't want to is Beyoncé's 'Irreplaceable'. I honestly wrote that song for myself.”
But some music fans had apparently taken his statement the wrong way, and had felt that he had insulted the ex-Destiny’s Child singer.
After hearing of the misunderstanding, Ne-Yo took to Twitter in an attempt to clarify what he had meant.
"Just heard the audio where I supposedly dissed Beyoncé. ARE Y'ALL SERIOUS!?! Did y'all even listen to what I said!?!
"I said I originally wrote the song for me. That's true, so OF COURSE I didn't want to give it away originally. IT WAS FOR ME. Once I realised how the song comes across if sang by a guy, that's when I decided to give it away. HOW IS THAT DISSING BEYONCE!?!
"She took the song and made it a smash, NOBODY can deny that."
