Rodrigo Y Gabriela are the second act to announce a headline show @ The Park. The acoustic guitar duo will perform under canvas with very special guest Seasick Steve at Marlay Park this summer.
Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero have been playing guitar together for more than seventeen years. From their hesitant first steps as teenage thrash metallurgists in their native Mexico City, through the innocents abroad street players of Dublin’s Grafton Street at the turn of the Millennium, to the universally acclaimed, million album selling, globe straddling tour machine of the 21st century. Theirs is a musical union where mutual understanding goes beyond intuitive and into the realms of Zen. Rhythmic Yin to melodic Yang.
Their last studio album '11:11' saw the duo develop their core sound into something more sophisticated, intricate and varied. Their first fully self-written and produced album, '11:11' was released to universal critical acclaim and was toured to rapturous audience feedback. Rod & Gab have recently collaborated with Hollywood soundtrack maestro Hans Zimmer on the score of Disney's 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; which will be released worldwide in May.
Seasick Steve, talented storyteller turned bluesman, will join Rodrigo Y Gabriela @ The Park this summer. His interesting life has led to him tell a whole host of stories through his music. His debut solo record, 'Doghouse Music', released in 2006 hit the UK charts at #2 on its release. He may refer to himself as “a song and dance man,” but American blues musician Seasick Steve is indisputably a living legend.
His latest album, 'You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks', is released this May. The twelve-track album, recorded through the fall of 2010, was produced by The Dog hisself (Seasick Steve) and Henry James Wold
and mixed by Vance Powell at Air Studios Studios in London.
Taking place within the unique surroundings of Marlay Park, @ The Park will provide fans with some of the best live music the venue has seen, all located within dark intimate surroundings of the tent giving people the festival experience set to the picturesque backdrop of the Dublin mountains. Throughout the years the venue has provided a stage for some of the world’s biggest performers including Radiohead, The Who, Aerosmith, The White Stripes, R.E.M., Daft Punk and Van Morrison. Continuing on in this fine tradition Marlay Park is about to be transformed into a music lovers paradise once again.
