LA rockers Jane’s Addiction have revealed that their new album ‘The Great Escape Artist’ is to be released in August, which will coincide with the band’s performances at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals. ‘The Great Escape Artist’ is the fourth album from Jane’s Addiction and their first in eight years, following 2003’s ‘Strays’. It also marks the group’s first release since their second reunion and the first to feature TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek as the band’s full-time bassist.
Jane’s Addiction have also confirmed that fans can hear a sneak preview of the album by downloading the track ‘End to the Lies’ from their website.
Jane’s Addiction were founded in 1985 by singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bass player Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins. The band released two albums, including the internationally-successful ‘Ritual de lo Habitual’, before breaking up in 1991. During the years that followed, Farrell and Perkins formed Porno for Pyros and Navarro replaced John Frusciante as the guitarist in the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Jane’s Addiction reformed in 2001 and released third album ‘Strays’ in 2003. However, they were to break up again later the same year. A couple of years ago, the band confirmed that they were to reunite for a second time, although the line-up has changed several times since then, with former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan joining and departing during 2010. Earlier this year, TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek was revealed as the band’s new bass player.
