‘Glee’: Matthew Morrison To Perform Single In Season Finale

Tuesday, 10 May 2011 Written by James Conlon

Glee’s Matthew Morrison has revealed that he will be performing his new single during the season finale of the hit US show later this month. The singer, who has recently finished recording his debut LP with help from Elton John and others, is set to perform ‘Still Got Tonight’ during the season finale on May 24th.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Morrison explained how the decision to perform the track came about. He said: "It was going to be just a big dance piece with me doing this big dance number. But they said: 'We want you to sing it and make it a big moment'."

Despite being co-written by ‘American Idol’ winner Kris Allen, apparently it wasn’t the easiest job in the world convincing executives to have the original song on the show, which is now famous for its cover renditions. Morrison went on to assert that it was ‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy who had the difficult task of convincing Fox chairman Dana Walden.

Talking about the song’s inclusion in the finale, Murphy said: "We worked really hard to make it feel organic to the show."
