Adele’s ex-boyfriend is said to be looking to claim royalities from the London-born singer’s debut album, stating that their failed relationship was the inspiration for a number of tracks on the LP. The unnamed man, who broke-up with Adele several years ago, believes that he is entitled to compensation after being the muse behind her debut release.
The singer has seen immense success over the past few months, earning her 14th non-consecutive week at the Number One spot on Sunday (May 8th). However, it is apparently not all smiles for the ‘Someone Like You’ star, who is said to be furious that her former partner is trying to claim credit for the heartbreak that he caused.
Speaking to The Sun, Adele discussed her ex’s ambitious demands. She said: “For about a week he was calling and was deadly serious about it. Finally, I said ‘Well, you made my life hell, so I lived it and now I deserve it'."
Adele continued: "He really thought he’d had some input into the creative process by being a prick. I’ll give him the credit – he made me an adult, and put me on the road that I’m travelling.”
