The paper on which John Lennon hand wrote the lyrics for Beatles single ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’ sold on Sunday for a massive £145,000.
The sheet, which has all of the lyrics written by hand as well as a sketch of four people sitting in a darkened room, sold in auction in Beverly Hills for the massive amount of cash.
The 1967 track is one of the Beatles’ most famous, and was taken from the album ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ of the same year, and is believed to have been written about Lennon’s appreciation of LSD.
The sheet was predicted to sell for £122,000, but clearly exceeded expectations after the two-day auction in LA.
It is not the first Beatles Memorabilia to be auctioned off this year as April saw John Lennon’s home studio microphones were sold, along with other equipment including a mixing console from the band’s Abbey Road Studios.
