The Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy has cleared up rumours that the band are soon to break-up. The rumours began after Meloy declared that the band would be taking a “long haitus” following the promotion cycle for their Number One album ‘The King is Dead’.
The singer was keen to clear up the rumours during a recent interview with Billboard, where he said: "Nothing could be farther from the truth. Discussing the project, which is the first in a series, he said: "I've managed to pull it off over the last year and a half but it owes a lot to chance and luck and, thankfully, some creative epiphanies. I think it would water down both things if I tried to do them at the same time."
However, when asked about what musical offering the band may eventually emerge with after their haitus, Meloy remained unusually tight-lipped. The ‘Down By The Water’ singer said: “We're not a band that's afraid to take risks, and if this seems risky it doesn't really bother me. I think we've taken bigger risks in the past. I'm just following my whim and I think that's what The Decemberists
