Personally, one of the most interesting ways to discover the true workings of a band is to watch a DVD of theirs without any preconceived notions of the band in question. With this in mind, The Answer’s ‘412 Days of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ can be considered my crash course 1.01 for the hard-rock foursome and, in turn, a DVD that turned out to be pretty enjoyable.
‘412 Days...’ takes you on a journey alongside the band from Washington DC to the streets of Munich to the Japanese wonders of Osaka; small headlining shows to colossal gigs in support of the mighty AC/DC at Madison Square Gardens, to name but one of the many infamous venues. Not only are the fans (and recent converts) given endless quality recordings of their live show, they’re treated to a behind the scenes look of being part of The Answer through such an exciting time period.
Indulging in the usual fun, laughter and drinking you would associate with touring, it’s overwhelmingly apparent that, while the band take what they do seriously, they’re appreciative and fun-loving along the way. Taking brief moments to sit and chat to the band, crew and even Brian Johnson of AC/DC, you clearly get a feel for the band’s enthusiasm for what they’re doing.
Flitting seamlessly between quiet jamming sessions to stadium performances, you see the contrast and stage presence the band possess. All these little insights build the big picture and perfectly portray the band to be the successful, classic, yet pretty humble rockstars.
For fans of The Answer, this will treat you with endless giggles, incredible shots of the band and a nice opportunity to listen to not only how the band feel, but crew and others who were with them along the way. For recent converts, let this be your introduction to an incredible group of guys with a strong vision of where they want their musical careers to go, with a good dose of laughter on the way.
