With the inaugural Merthyr Rock now just seven days away the stage times have been announced. The three day event at Merthyr’s Cyfarthfa Park opens up on Friday 2nd September with an evening of live music as well as a spectacular motocross display before closing up with a DJ set from Lostprophets' Ian Watkins.
For the weekend the live music is spread across two tented arenas with organisers taking a page from the book of Sonisphere UK and staggering times so that fans don’t have to miss any of the action.
Saturday includes main stage performances by veteran Britpoppers Ocean Colour Scene as well as Cast and Newport comedy-rap collective Goldie Lookin’ Chain while the Big Deal stage features the likes of The Last Republic and up and comers The Broken Vinyl Club.
On Sunday the mood turns heavier with what is sure to be a spectacular headline show from The Blackout, ably supported by the likes of Funeral For A Friend and Skindred who are one of the most electrifying live acts around today. Big Deal stage headliners are Future Of The Left and just before them a band who were one of the highlights of Sonisphere’s Jagermeister stage Jettblack.
Tickets for Merthyr Rock can be bought as weekend packages for £45 or as single days priced at £10 for Friday or £20 per day for Saturday and Sunday. For those living in South Wales Arriva Transport are running a series of Merthyr Rock express buses heading back to Cardiff, Abercynon and Pontypridd with several other stops available on request. Tickets for the buses are priced at £5 for adults and £4 for under 16’s with details available at www.merthyrrock.com
