British rockers Kasabian have organised and created what they’ve described as a “gig that will go down in history”, after working with VEVO to hold a concert inside an aeroplane.
200 lucky fans were chosen by the band to attend the gig, which took place inside a plane in Bruntingthorpe Aerodome, so they could film the event for an exclusive video. The 200 concert-goers were also treated to a hog roast after they were transported from Leicester City’s Kings Power Stadium, before going on to rock out in the plane.
“This will go down in history,” said frontman Tom Meighan. “We wanted to do something really memorable - and our fans are going to remember the day they saw us play in an aeroplane when they’re old and grey.
“Working with VEVO to put this gig on has been incredible. The fact that it was in our home town of Leicester made it extra special.”
Fellow bandmate Serge Pizzorno agreed, and told how the one-of-a-kind gig came about:
“VEVO asked if we wanted to do a gig, so we thought we’d freak them out by saying we wanted to do it on a plane. Then they freaked us out by making it happen. It was what this band is all about – being on the edge. There have been guerrilla gigs before – but we’re the first to do one on a plane.”
It was the first ‘VEVO Presents:’ to be held outside of the UK and the exclusive video shows the band performing songs from their brand new album ‘Velociraptor!’. You can watch the video below.
