Promoters in Liverpool have organised two concerts to commemorate ten years since Beatles legend George Harrison passed away from lung cancer.
The shows will feature some of the more renowned Beatles tribute bands, like The Mersey Beatles and The Bootleg Beatles, as well as acts which were previously signed to The Beatles’ Apple label, including The Radha Krishna Temple and Brute Force. Also appearing will be North Indian classical ensemble Singh Strings, and the Liverpool-based Dovedale School Choir.
The first concert, scheduled for November 29th (Harrison died on November 29th 2001, aged 58), will be held in the St George’s Hall – with no charge for tickets. As well as being free, members of the Radha Krishna Temple will also feed the audience and performers - again, for no extra cost. The second gig will be held in The Cavern Club – with tickets costing £10.
In other George Harrison news, film-making icon Martin Scorsese has today released a documentary on the deceased Beatles legend – entitled ‘Living in the Material World’.
