We Are Augustines Confirmed as Support on This Month’s Glasvegas Tour

Brooklyn-based indie-rock trio We Are Augustines have been confirmed as the support act for this month’s Glasvegas tour, which starts at London Koko on Monday 24th October – see below for dates and tickets. The support slots will be followed by the release of We Are Augustines’ new single ‘Book of James’ – out on 7th November – the latest track to be taken from the band’s debut album ‘Rise Ye Sunken Ships’, which is due for release on 5th March 2012. We Are Augustines were formed last year by former Pela members Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson. Much of the material on ‘Rise Ye Sunken Ships’ documents the most traumatic period of McCarthy’s life, in which he lost both his schizophrenic mother and his brother, James, to suicide.
Speaking about the new single, the frontman said: “Everybody deserves a proper eulogy. This is mine for my brother James. As far as I'm concerned, our society at large would rather not think about the topic of homelessness and mental illness. Unfortunately, people who have lived through it are forced to find a place to store it internally. This song is written from that place.”
