Take That’s Robbie Williams will be releasing his ninth studio album in autumn next year, it has been revealed.
The new effort will be his first release on Universal records, and his first solo record since 2009’s ‘Reality Killed the Video Star’ – his least successful album in the UK (although it performed brilliantly across Europe). Although Take That fans will be sad to see him temporarily leaving the group once again following their hugely successful Progress tours, they won’t have to wait long before they have Robbie album to quench their pop ballad thirst.
Robbie is pleased at having finally sorted out a record label, too – saying: “I'm really thrilled to be joining the Universal family at what I think is the most exciting time in my career.”
Universal are equally as happy as to have signed him, with their chairman Lucian Grainge saying: “What a thrill this announcement is. To be working with Robbie and his team, and to have the opportunity to support this incredible stage of his career, makes life so exciting.”
UK CEO David Joseph also claimed that Robbie was at the peak of his career, and that the new album will be ‘special’. “Having had the chance to listen to the music,” Joseph revealed, “I’ve no doubt that Robbie is currently at his most creatively inspired. We are about to witness something very special.”
