Cardiff got a little hot around the collar this week as Scarlette Fever paid the city a visit during her UK tour.
Supporting Roachford and promoting her new single 'Elated', Scarlette riveted her audience at Ten Feet Tall with a selection of songs from debut album 'Medication Time'. Starting the evening with sassy, slinky renditions of 'Cheatin’ Man' and 'Single White Female', Scarlette moved on to catchier-than-chicken-pox single 'Crash and Burn' and Radio Two favourite 'Elated'.
The power of Scarlette’s vocals was further illustrated by a stunning rendition of Eva Cassidy’s 'People Get Ready', and 'Hour of Sunshine', a song that makes you want to clap your hands like you’re at the world’s sexiest barn-dance.
Scarlette is a talented, confident and poised live performer who enjoys a bit of playful banter with her audience, but the most striking feature of Scarlette’s live performance is the contrast between her live voice and her recorded sound.
Scarlette has an immeasurably powerful voice, the kind that this year’s X Factor contestants can only dream of, and when stripped of all production and polish she sounds a lot more grown-up compared to the girl that we hear on the radio. Her live performance is powerful, edgy and mature so if 'Medication Time' proved to be a tad too poppy for your tastes I urge you to pay this girl a visit as she tours the UK.
