Legendary DJ Goldie will be making a very special appearance at Cardiff’s long-running, hard-hitting, best-known drum and bass night Aperture this Friday (28th).
Fresh from his recent television appearances, which include his three-part reality show ‘Goldie’s Band’, and his performances on Celebrity Come Dine With Me, Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Mastermind, Goldie comes to the ‘Diff for the first time in a long while.
As owner of the highly-celebrated Metalheadz label, Goldie is a force to be reckoned with. He did wonderful things for drum and bass when the genre was still growing in the early 90’s, putting out releases under the Rufige Cru alias, which he later changed to Rufige Kru for collaborations Heist.
His 1995 album Timeless is one of the most seminal and iconic drum and bass albums ever released, featuring tracks like ‘Inner City Life’ which still receive countless plays today, sixteen years later – the album managed to reach #7 in the UK Albums chart – one of (if not the) highest a drum and bass or jungle album has ranked in the charts ever.
And on top of that, hes a pretty good DJ too – he’s made mixes for the likes of Drum and Bass Arena, 1 Xtra’s Essential Mix and, most recently, Fabriclive. So it would be a mistake to miss him playing for two hours alongside Aperture’s talented array of resident DJ’s. If you need tickets, check below!
