When Dubstep was first born into the underground music scene of the UK, in small clubs and internet forums around the country, it was a new sound of music barely many had heard before. Combining with the resurgence of drum and bass, dubstep got bigger and bigger – until it became a overflowing bandwagon which all sorts of people are attempting to jump into.
Nowadays, it’s hit commercial and mainstream media, with ‘bro-step’ producers selling millions of records, singles managing to claim #1 in the UK charts and the likes of Britney Spears all the way to Korn deciding to follow the trend, producing their own dubstep-infused songs in an attempt update themselves with what’s selling right now.
Now, dubstep fans officially have something to cry about – as it emerged that even Justin Bieber has been experimenting with the 140bpm sounds, now that it’s picked up heavily in the US.
The teen pop sensation is working on a ‘proper’ new album (although he is releasing a Christmas-themed LP later this year) and has told USA Today that he’s been experimenting on the new record – and it’ll feature some kind of dubstep on there.
“I'm about halfway through, I'm experimenting,” Bieber explained. “What's big right now are beats that are in the clubs, like dubstep. So I want to mess with that stuff, but also stay me.”
Although raving dubstep fans won’t be please with this new abomination, they at least have something to laugh about – after Bieber’s manager yesterday told press that the singer’s“balls have dropped.” Pretty embarrassing...
