A member of the always-controversial rap outfit Odd Future sparked more criticism earlier this week by slapping a press photographer and barraging her with water bottles. The attack occurred when Left Brain (real name Vyron Turner) fronted a complaint about the existence of front-stage photography areas during a recent show at the New Orleans’ Voodoo Festival on October 30th.
According to Rolling Stone, the incident occurred when group frontman Tyler The Creator began to complain to the crowd that photographers are given the privilege of an area in front of the stage barricades to take pictures of artists.
After hearing Tyler’s rant, Left Brain launched an attack on the festival photographers, kicking equipment in their vicinity, throwing water bottles at them and slapping freelancer Amy Harris across the face.
Speaking about the incident to the music publication, Harris said: "I have worked many shows before, and I've had to deal with a band flinging water at the photographers, but I never expected this to happen. In the pit, the male to female ratio is about 20 to 1. There were way more men in that pit than women.”
