Korn Admit Fans Will Hate New Album

Nu-metal veterans Korn have admitted that their new dubstep-orientated album may outrage their older metalhead fans and that they had gone for the change as they hated being known as the ‘Godfathers of Nu-metal’.

‘The Path of Totality’, the band’s tenth studio album, has taken a completely different turn sound-wise, with the band working with marmite producer Skrillex, Dutch bass experts Noisia and dubstep giants Excision and Downlink. The band have built their entire career pioneering and producing one genre of music; nu metal. Almost 20 years down the line and they’ve decided to change – will fans hate or appreciate? Frontman Jonathan Davis seems to think hate...

“People are going to be pissed about this record. That's made me even more excited about it. I don't give a flying fuck what people think. We can't win with Korn fans. Some are so stuck in 1994.

“Everybody calls us the godfathers of nu-metal and I'm fucking tired of that. We don't want to join the nostalgia circuit. Us, Limp Bizkit, Staind or some shit like that. Fuck that.”

After slating his own fans, Davis went on to say that his band had coined a new genre of music with their single ‘Get Up’, featuring Skrillex – ‘Future Metal’, before going on to say how the song was about his hatred of hearing about the recession all the time.

“'Get Up' is about the recession. I wish everyone would shut the fuck up and have some fun. Every day I've got to hear about unemployment and people starving.”

Maybe when you sell millions of album the recession isn’t something you have to worry about as much!
