Dixie Join Shaun Ryder On UK Tour

London-based five-piece Dixie release their UK debut single ‘What You Gonna Do’ on November 21st, and will follow the release up by tearing through 27 UK tour dates at the personal request of Shaun Ryder himself.

Formed on a boisterous weekend away in Warsaw, the band aim to be nothing less than, yes, ‘a proper band’ - the antidote to what they see as a staid, predictable music scene. They combine soul-fuelled lyrics, stripped down grooves and classic riffs together with a cheeky swagger to create a truly unique sound.

The band took their first steps in the studio with UK producer Jon Kelly (who’s worked with Paul McCartney, and the Beautiful South) who said simply, “For me it was instant. A real band, playing real songs.” Dixie quickly came to the attention of US producer Robert Shanazarian Jr (The Kooks, Plain White Ts) who signed them to his label. The band’s initial recordings, as they strove to find their true sound, were with Robert in LA and they also worked with ex-Maroon 5 man Ryan Dusick.

Ironically, in the end they had to travel to the other side of the world to capture the raw British sound they were looking for. The album ‘Sometimes All You’ve Got Left Is Your Style’ was recorded in Byron Bay, Australia, with producer Tom Misner. “It was all recorded in the old-fashioned way, live to tape, just how we wanted it,” adds Adam. “Eleven tracks in eleven days!”

Tour dates for the band can be seen below – and the album’s due out early on in 2012.
