Hulk Hogan: 'Lars Ulrich Asked Me To Play Bass In Metallica'

Superstar wrestler Hulk Hogan has revealed how he almost became part of thrash metal titans Metallica in his early days, claiming that he was once ‘big pals with Lars Ulrich’.

ImageAccording to an interview that he had with tabloid newspaper The Sun, Hogan used to be a session musician, and was called up by his friend Lars Ulrich, who plays drums for Metallica. And in fairness, as odd as the story might seem, Hogan wouldn’t have looked out of place in the group – especially with their matching moustaches.

“I used to be a session musician before I was a wrestler,” he told The Sun. “I played bass guitar. I was big pals with Lars Ulrich and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica in their early days but it didn't work out.”

He went on to talk about his love for The Stone Roses - and how he’s not so found of Kasabian...

“I love the Stone Roses! They're getting back together, right? That's cool man. I used to work out to some of their songs.”

He then went on to talk about Kasabian, who had apparently been using Hulk Hogan’s name to book hotel rooms – before trashing them: “I heard about these guys. They have made a show about UK wrestling in the 80s, called 'Walk like a Panther'. I know Rollerball Rocco, he's in it. He's my guy. I'll be his tag partner and sort them out for trashing hotel rooms under my name.”

Metallica will be performing the Black Album in full at this year's Download Festival on June 8th-10th, as well as at the Spanish and Finnish versions of Sonisphere Festival. If you need tickets, check the link below.
