Liam Gallagher has confirmed that his new group Beady Eye, which consists mostly of ex-Oasis members, will be playing tracks by their old group for the first time when they perform live this summer.
The band are likely to be rocking out sets at festivals in the sunny months of the year, and will now apparently be playing some of Oasis’ iconic Britpop tracks – the first time Liam’s ventured back to his old, super-famous band since he and Noel fought and split in 2009.
Interestingly, Liam previously said he would refrain from playing the band’s songs, because it ‘wouldn’t feel right’ without Noel performing them too – even though the pair have an infamous feud which was the cause of the band’s demise. Noel, however, hasn’t held back, and has played many of the band’s songs with his new group The High Flying Birds, including their seminal ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’.
Liam made the announcement when talking about their up and coming set at Japan’s Fuji Festival, saying: “We're doing Fuji Festival in Japan, which is in July. And we will be dropping Oasis songs for anyone who's bothered.”
He added: “The time is right now, without a doubt. We were always going to do it, but we thought the [debut Beady Eye] album needed to stand on its own. We've done some good gigs, we've done some shit gigs. And it's time to drop them in now. Everyone else is. I feel they're just as much my songs as they are Noel's. And if people don't like it, go to the bar or fuck off. If they do like it, jump up and down, let's have a good time.”
